Northwest Florida State College is a multi-campus institution located in the coastal heart of Northwest Florida, serving both Okaloosa and Walton counties and over 14,000 students annually. Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. began its relationship with the College in 1990 and has provided design services for numerous projects.
The Community Services Complex is an innovative concept combining an arena, a public safety building, and an interdepartmental classroom building. This configuration allows for the sharing of spaces and resources for use by many groups with similar needs. The facility includes a NCAA Regulation basketball court, a wellness/fitness center, public safety administration offices, a 911 call center, classrooms, and administration space. The building complex is designed to fit into the existing campus fabric and aesthetic while allowing each component a distinct identity.
