Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Electrical design services for the new, $22.3 million School of Science and Engineering. The 92,000 square foot, four-story building will be situated on the crest of a hill adjacent to the University’s Performing Arts Center.

The building will house the University’s Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Mathematics and Statistics; and Physics departments and will allow UWF the ability to grant electrical and computer engineering degrees. The building will be infused with state-of-the-art laboratories that will focus on integrated learning.

Sustainable design was a driving force behind the project. As a result, the building is seeking a LEED Silver certification. Our Electrical team designed high efficiency interior lighting with daylight controls system and provided cut-off exterior lighting fixtures to comply with United States Green Building Council guidelines. Construction for the project has an anticipated completion date of October 2009.
