In 2001, the college’s District Board of Trustees approved the purchase of land in the Spring Hill area to create a larger, permanent center. Florida Architects, Inc. worked closely with a 20-member committee to provide a Master Plan and Phase I Development for the new center. Phase I of the consists of an Administration/Student Services Building, a Multipurpose Building, a Library/Technology Building, an Academic/Faculty Building, and a Chiller and Physical Plant Building totaling approximately 100,000 square feet. The Master Plan includes a total of three phases of buildings on approximately 58 Acres. It was Florida Architects, Inc.’s vision to “develop a new college progressive learning center that expresses a balance for technology, sustainability, and a respect for the natural surroundings.” Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. was asked to provide Electrical and Communications design services for the project. Our Electrical Engineer is working closely with the Architects and Interior Designers to provide a lighting package that will enhance the architectural aspects of the center. Our Communications system design will include provisions for wireless connectivity, audio-visual in the classrooms, access control and intrusion detection. Provisions for Enhanced Hurricane Protection Areas (EHPA) will be designed for the Multipurpose and Administration Buildings. Back to College and University |
