| Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. served as the prime design consultant and provided Mechanical and Electrical design, bidding, and construction administration services for a $2,450,000.00 renovation at Millville Elementary School, located in Millville, Florida. The existing mechanical system was well beyond its useful service life and required constant maintenance. The building had poor indoor air quality and high humidity. The air distribution system was noisy and obtrusive. Our firm designed a chiller/boiler system with four pipe variable air volume air handling units and reheat terminal units for each classroom. Lighting was upgraded to new energy efficient fixtures and electrical systems were updated to serve the new mechanical system. The size of the project required construction to be broken down into three phases so that the school could continue to function during the renovation. The new system is easier to maintain, quieter, and more energy efficient than the system it replaced. Indoor air quality and humidity problems were eliminated by the new design. |
