| Freeport and South Walton High School were built concurrently for the Walton County School District, Florida, using a common floor plan with minor variations. Each school has approximately 150,000 feet of conditioned space. The HVAC systems use closed-circuit hybrid geothermal heat exchangers for heating and cooling coupled to individual water-source heat pumps serving each thermal zone. The geothermal heat exchanger consists of 308 wells. Each well is a four-inch bore approximately 280 feet deep containing a loop of 3/4-inch polyethylene pipe. Both of these projects were completed and occupied within two years. |
