| The Air Force Material Command awarded a Design-Construction Award to the design team of the Design/Build Command and Control Test Operations Facility Project located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, and Communications design services for $14 million project. This project consists of a two-story, 66,000 square foot facility dedicated to Command and Control Test Operations. The building consolidated the 46th TS's facilities which were previously scattered across several buildings. |

The new facility provided an electronics testing laboratory, as well as administrative support areas for each of the 46th TS user groups. In addition, a multi-purpose auditorium, conference rooms, and building support functions were included. A significant portion of the facility contains "classified" areas that required an intricate Communications system design. Access control door/hardware systems were provided to control access to the classified areas and an instruction detection system (IDS) was implemented for detection and alarm purposes. Approximately 80% of the building contains a raised access floor system. Unique electrical power systems were required in order to provide 208Y/120 volt, 3 phase, 400 hertz electrical power and 28 volt DC power distribution. |
