For the past twenty-one years, Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. has specialized in educational facilities design and enjoys ongoing working relationships and continuing contracts with numerous universities and junior colleges in the southeast United States.

Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. has provided specialized design solutions for every type of educational facility found on a modern campus. These facilities include science labs, public television broadcast studios, theaters, planetariums, life fitness centers, gymnasiums, sports stadiums, dormitories, cafeterias, media centers, and many others.

Mechanical systems designed for these facilities have included central plant chillers and boilers, variable speed campus pumping systems, and two of the largest geothermal loop field projects in the state of Florida. Electrical systems have included campus-wide high voltage power distribution, building lighting and power systems, and central plant power systems and controls. The primary design objectives for these systems included reliability, energy efficiency, low life cycle cost, and ease of maintenance.

Our Communications department has prepared time tested and proven designs for a multitude of new schools, renovations, and technology retrofit projects involving integrated voice, video, media retrieval, and data systems. Our team has written design standards for six school districts in Florida and routinely participates in work groups tasked with assimilating technology into curriculum and classroom layouts. The group also specializes in the integration of modern telephone systems into the school environment.

Our Structural team is dedicated to providing our clients with designs that have emphasis on safety and performance of structural systems that can be built for realistic budgets, on schedule. Our knowledge of material and construction types gives us the ability to produce designs that reduce cost and simplify construction. Our engineers are experienced in educational facilities design, ranging from renovations and additions, to large structures that meet the most stringent standards. We are familiar with the requirements of essential facilities used for hurricane shelters and are familiar with the design of large gymnasium buildings and high theater structures.
