| The $32 million, 262,000 square foot Biloxi High School project was featured in the New York Times and on NBC's the Today Show as an example for the district-wide, state-of-the-art video surveillance system designed by our Communications Team. Our design was labeled as one of the most extensive in the country. |

The security system uses digital video and web technology that eliminates the need for VCRs, videotape, and proprietary software by directly recording images to a server's hard drive. Live and recorded images can be seen on a computer by the simple click of a mouse. In addition, virtually no maintenance or human intervention is required because the system remotely runs a diagnosis of each server and camera every 10 minutes. The web-based system can also be integrated with alarm systems to alert school officials of emergencies such as fires and security breaches. At Biloxi High School, a computer-based closed-circuit surveillance system, comprised of 150 color cameras, monitors all classroom and circulation areas as well as the campus grounds and parking lot. The School’s design incorporates a central courtyard flanked by academic classrooms, a student gathering space, and a practice and competition-sized gymnasiums. Another unique feature of the school are the four large computer labs that students can access in addition to at least six computers located in every classroom. In addition to Communications design services, Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. also provided Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical design services for the project. |
