Naval Air Station Atlanta is a military airport located 1-mile south of Marietta, Georgia. It is located immediately south of Dobbins Air Reserve Base and shares its runways. The Station's mission is to provide logistics support and other host functions to operational tenant commands and Reserve training for units assigned to NAS Atlanta.

Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. began its relationship with the Station in 2000. Our design for the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters received formal recognition from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command which identified eight projects under their 2007 Design Awards Program.

The Command's Program seeks to recognize specific design achievements by the design community, promote design excellence in all aspects of both the built and natural environment, and demonstrate responsible stewardship of public resources. The new Bachelor Enlisted Quarters project recieved an Honor Award. This $6.2 million, 32,000 square foot Design/Build project consisted of two, two-story buildings, with a total of 38 unit 1+1 enhanced barracks which met the requirements of the UFC 4-010-01 DoD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards for Buildings. An “integrated design process” was utilized along with LEED guidelines to optimize sustainable principles such as energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, productive and healthy indoor environment, and resource conservation.

Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Communications design services for the project.
